Teachings
From the HEARt
A collection of teachings to help grow your faith and understanding of the Bible.
A teaching or 'sermon' heard in Church on Sunday (or at any other time) should leave us feeling nourished and refreshed - ready to start anew and inspiring us to spread God's Word with others. I hope these teachings will nourish you and help you to go deeper in your relationship with The Lord. Ponder on them, look up the scriptures for yourself and spend time thinking about them. They are for every day of the week, not just on Sundays. Here is a famous quote about Sermons.
A church-goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. He wrote: "I've gone to church every Sunday. I've heard something like 3,000 sermons, but for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So I think I'm wasting my time, the preachers are wasting theirs, so why bother at all?"
This started a controversy in the 'Letters to the Editor' column of the newspaper. Much to the delight of the Editor, it went on for several weeks until someone wrote this: "I've been married for 30 years now and in that time my wife had cooked some 32,000 meals, but for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: they all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to Church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!"
Thankfully we don't need to go to Church to be spiritually nourished. We can read books, listen to teachings online or watch Christian Broadcasts on TV. The important thing is that we develop in our Christian walk and keep learning!
When you are DOWN to nothing, God is UP to something.
Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible.
Thank God for our physical and spiritual nourishment.
If you cannot see God in all, you cannot see God at all.
